Study in Germany from Hyderabad: The 6-Step Student Visa Process

Are you a Hyderabad student dreaming of studying in tech hubs like Munich, Berlin, or Frankfurt? With world-class public universities, excellent post-study work rights, and zero tuition fees, Germany is a top choice for students from Telangana.

However, getting your German Student Visa requires careful planning. From the mandatory APS certificate to funding your blocked account, missing a single document can delay your dreams.

As your trusted study abroad experts at EV Overseas in Himayat Nagar, we have simplified the Germany student visa process into 6 clear steps for our Hyderabad applicants!

Step 1: Apply for Your APS Certificate (Crucial for India)  Secure Your University Admission Letter

Before you can apply for a visa, you need an unconditional offer letter from a recognized German university. Public universities are highly competitive, so ensure your academic profile, IELTS/TOEFL scores, and Statement of Purpose (SOP) are perfect.

Step 2: Apply for Your APS Certificate (Crucial for India)

The Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) certificate is a mandatory requirement specifically for Indian students. It verifies that your Indian academic documents are authentic. You cannot even book a German student visa appointment without it.

The application fee is ₹18,000, and processing typically takes 3 to 6 weeks. Apply for this the very moment you decide to study in Germany!

Step 3: Open and Fund Your Blocked Account

The German government needs proof that you can afford your living expenses. You must open a "Blocked Account" with an approved provider (like Expatrio) and deposit your living funds for the first year.

For 2026, the required Blocked Account amount is €11,904. Once you arrive in Germany, the bank will allow you to withdraw €992 per month to cover your rent, food, and transport.

Step 4: Secure German Health Insurance

Health insurance is mandatory for all residents in Germany, and you need proof of it for your visa. You will need to purchase student health insurance (either a public one like TK/AOK or a recognized private insurance). Many Blocked Account providers offer a convenient "Value Package" that bundles your bank account and health insurance together.

Step 5: Prepare Your Visa Application File

The German Consulate is very strict about paperwork. You will need to prepare a meticulously organized file. Your checklist must include your Passport, Admission Letter, APS Certificate, Blocked Account Confirmation, Health Insurance, language test scores, and a strong Motivation Letter explaining exactly why you want to study in Germany.

Step 6: Book Your Appointment at VFS Hyderabad

Once your file is ready, book your visa appointment through VFS Global. On the day of your appointment, you will submit your physical documents, pay the visa fee, and give your biometrics. Processing times usually range from 4 to 8 weeks, so apply early!
